BE PART OF SOMETHING BIG!

We know that without you and your commitment to our cause we would not be able to reach as many families as we do. No matter how small or big the amount, every little bit helps. Your donation makes a difference in the lives of over 500 children, patients, youth and carers across the country.

WHERE ARE MY FUNDS BEING USED?

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Community Development is about meeting the needs of the poor through selfless love and service. Our Home Based Care services are in conjunction with the local clinics and treatment plan. A home visit may include a bed bath, wound care, physio and mobility exercises, medication, nutrition and hygiene training. Added services include feeding a patient soup, doing laundry, cleaning the home, teaching the family and friends how to support and rehabilitate the patient to the best of their ability. Our carers conduct over 5000 visits annually.

Our Gogo’s (Gogo means “granny” in Xhosa) meet once a week to fellowship. Half of these ladies are breadwinners and caretakers for their families and they have heavy loads to carry. The aim of this project is to connect people, encourage them, share the word of God, create unity and fellowship, as well as provide a platform for counselling and deeper relationship. Regular distribution of donations to those who are physically unable to help themselves and are vulnerable to starvation and malnutrition form a big part of this project.

ORPHANS AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN

We have encountered many orphans and vulnerable children as a result of the health status of our Home Based Care patients. We saw a need in the children - for more care and support, practically and spiritually. We host “Play Dates” on alternative Saturdays to provide a safe environment to teach Godly morals, life skills while playing games and enjoying nutritious snacks.

During the school term, children are fed a meal once a day. During school holidays children are often left to fend for themselves in the community. Ikhaya Le Themba hosts holiday clubs twice per annum to provide a place of safety and nutritious snacks while having fun with friends

Each Friday afternoon, Ikhaya Le Themba meets with a group of older children that we have been attending play dates for many years. They are discipled and trained up to lead and mentor the smaller children attending playdates. Our heart is to pass down a blessing to the next generation.

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

Epic Solutions is an organisation that has successfully presented business training around the world since 2006. The business training has been developed by the South African Institute of Entrepreneurship and is a simulation based business skills development tool masquerading as a game that simulates real market conditions and business scenarios in the training room. The modules include basic business cycle, managing cash flow, basic record keeping, supply and demand, pricing products, sale techniques, marketing, business plans, production and diversification.

Statistics show that if a young adult has not been employed by the age of 26, there is an 80% chance that the person will never be employed. The current Youth Unemployment Rate in South Africa is 54%. Ikhaya Le Themba is committed to preparing and developing young adults for the workplace through Life Skills Programmes that help build confidence, skills and work ethic.

ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT

Our Urban Farming programme empowers communities to provide income/food through growing vegetables and herbs. This programme mentors individuals in gardening and business skills with a biblical view on “How does God see work”.

Indalo Natural Local Together (PTY) Ltd (referred to as Indalo) is Ikhaya Le Themba’s Enterprise Development initiative and a subsidiary of ILT, this start-up business has a sustainable business model to enable the poor. Indalo is the manufacturer/producer and distributer/supplier of local, natural and wholesome products/produce; from the local community to the local community. The overall objective of Indalo is to see individuals transformed through skills development and job creation whilst providing quality, wholesome, natural products/produce to the market place.

WHY DONATE TO IKHAYA LE THEMBA?

GIVING

At Ikhaya Le Themba we have recognised that there are a large number of South Africans in dire need of assistance. Our organisation looks at supporting and uplifting the community by offering physical, spiritual as well as emotional support.

We aid vulnerable children and families, terminally ill patients, grannies and youth. We look at the bigger picture and don’t only treat symptoms but look at the source of the problem and help where it makes the most impact.

Our Enterprise development program looks at job creation and helps previously unemployed community members provide an income for themselves and their families.

Others such as businesses, schools and partners are looking for ways to make a difference in the community.
